Distance was formed from the ashes of Oldham (Near Manchester, UK)’s premium Alternative folk / rock band W@ in 2004.

It is a band that moves away from the ashes of W@’s experimental Nick Cave leanings heading into more of a post rock experimental sound with tracks going on for as long as the mood strikes, rejecting structure, form and length which explains why on their first album ‘Distance’ (2005) – it is only made up of two tracks – two incredibly long, long tracks – Both nearly 30 minutes long and both recorded live with the rain adding a extra dimension to things.

The sound has been described as close to Flying Saucer Attack or early Third Eye Foundation varying to bursts of Bardo Pond..
